What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas!!!

First package from home
Okay, let's just say the weeks are getting better. I am adjusting to the amazing missionary life. The people here are amazing, you can feel the love that God has for each one them.

Tomorrow we have a baptism, I am so excited, his name is Carlos, the Hermanas were teaching him. They found out he didn't live in their area so they referred him to the missionaries in his area, but this last week he moved back into our area because he is dating one of the members so now we get to baptize him. He is full of the light of Christ and has the amazing desire to be baptized. I am so excited!!!

This week we went over to a members house, Barbra Mopps, and let me tell you she is amazing but her house...no words can describe but I will try. She has the most amazing Christmas decorations all over her house. There are shelves and shelves of Christmas cottages, there is a Christmas tree, all the chairs are covered with something that is green or red, and there are stuffed animals all over with Christmas lights. It made me so happy when I walked in, I felt like home because I love Christmas, but the spirit that you feel in her home is amazing.

On our p-day we go with our district and play spike ball, and let me tell you I am amazing. Just kidding, I love just having a good time with everyone.

This week Wyatt and Anthony came to church and they brought some of their family, it was so amazing. It was stake conference so they were a little confused but we answered all of their questions. But the best part is that they told us they felt really good after going. We told them that this is something that they could feel all of the time. I was so happy for them and can't wait for them to come again
.
We did a lot of teaching this week, and we're busy. A lot of teaching opportunities and let's just say the spirit is amazing and you can feel it.

I am sorry I don't have a lot of time today, it had been a crazy p day. The spiritual thought I am going to share is the first vision. I encourage you to all go read it. But the experience that I had this week helped testify to me that this is where I need to be and help others have this gospel.

We were over at Wyatt and Anthony's house, we went through the lesson of the Restoration and got to the First Vision, all of the sudden everyone was quiet, and Hermana Schiess started to recite the First Vision. The spirit was so strong. When we finished they turned to us with a look and you know that they felt that too

The spirit testifies to us when we are doing the primary things. Reading our scriptures, praying, and keeping the commandments. When we are searching for an answer we need to be okay with the answer that we receive because it is all different for everyone.

I love you all and hope you all have an amazing week!

Vegas Baby!

Katie at the Las Vegas Temple
I am so sorry that I didn't get the chance to email last week. It was a little hectic. Last Wednesday was the day that I flew out to Las Vegas. ( I am in Vegas Baby!) This was a rough day, I had to say goodbye to my family, and that is one of the hardest things I had to do. But they are with me in spirit and right now that is what I need. I am here to do the work of the lord and that is the best thing that I could be doing with my life.

This was the first time that I have ever been on a plane and it is not as bad as everyone says. To me it felt like I was in the car but in the air. Haha! The only thing that I was scared about was the airport but that wasn't bad at all. I had a cute little missionary that was going out with me helping me. When I got to the terminal I was thinking there would be about 10 missionaries, well there were about three times that. I want to say there were 30 missionaries. ( The total of new missionaries that came out to the mission field with me was 35 just for the Las Vegas mission. How crazy is that! ) I went back to the mission home and everyone was waiting. It was such a nice welcome, the spirit was so strong and exciting.

Hermana Schiess, Katie,
and Krieger
We went into the Chapple and we got our companion assignments. I am in a trieo with Hermana Schiess and Hermana Krieger. They are so amazing and I think that I got the best trainers, not to brag. We got some lunch and got all of the information that we needed. I got to meet my mission president, President Rodarte and his wife. They are amazing and I can't wait to get to know them better. They love to laugh and make jokes, he also played football so to say the least I think that I am going to get along with him and his wife really well.
We got home and got settled in a little bit, and got straight to work. They had the ward Halloween party that night so I got to go to that and get to meet some of the ward members. We then had to make a bunk bed so I had somewhere to sleep. It took forever to make and with not having the right tools it took three days to make, haha that was an adventure. But when it was done it felt so good.

President and Sister
Rodarte
During the week we do a lot of phone calls to set up meetings and to share messages with people. We go to a lot of member houses and share messages with them and get to know them.

During the six days that I have been here I have had about three holidays if you would call it that.

On Friday it was Nevada Day and all of the kids got school off that day. That day we went to the young woman president's house and she made gluten free Empanadas. We didn't know that they were gluten free, until she told us. It reminded me of home and to say the least I didn't realize that I would miss that.

Bunk Beds after they were
built.
Saturday was HALLOWEEN ( spooky season). I hope you all had a good covid HALLOWEEN. ( I guess you could say it was one of the scariest Halloween out there. Haha) We came in early and made phone calls. We made chocolate covered pretzels. Mmmmmm
(Phone calls in the equivalent to knocking of doors.)

And today is election day, and in Nevada all of the kids don't have to go to school today. Which I think is crazy, but that is what the world is coming to.

This week for me has been a little crazy, and a lot of information that is going in one ear and out the next but all good things
.
For me this is something that I am going to have to adjust to. But you know what I have the lord on my side and that is all that matters.

The spiritual thought that I want to share with you is a scripture it is from my personal study this week. It is 2 Nephi 3:13
" And out of weakness he shall be made strong, in the day when my work shall commence among all my people, unto the restoring thee, O house of Israel, saith the Lord."
This is a scripture that has helped me through this week. Knowing that I am not perfect and that this is something that is going to make me strong and a better person is something that is amazing. But I can't do it without the help of the Lord because it is through him that we are made better.

I encourage you all this week to find something that you are struggling with and ask the lord for help. But in order for you to fully ask you should be reading your scriptures and praying every day. If you do this God is going to help you and make you strong from your challenges.
I love you all and hope you are having the most amazing week!

Please write me, I would love to hear from all of you and see how you are doing.

The Last One!!!

I can't believe that this has come to an end, at the beginning I thought this day would never come and now look where I am at. I am so b...
