This week was another crazy one, we had a lot going on.
Monday was good. We went out with our district, they are all into this game that is called Magic. It is a card game, and something that doesn't look too interesting to me. We went out with them because they wanted to go shopping for cards and then we went out to Kanes after. The things we do to be out with them. To say the least we always get some good laughs.
We went over to the Gleason’s and had our next lesson with Bryce. He is a good kid and has a desire to learn more. So we went over the 10 commandments with him.
Tuesday we went over her Hermana Milan’s to visit with her and had a good lunch. She is so kind to have us over!! We came home and all of our lessons canceled and it was freezing so we decided to make cookies and make some calls to people. And then we went out and delivered them, it was good, raining and cold, I was DYING!!!
And then that night we had English class, and everyone decided to cancel on us except one, and his name is Benjerman. He is the nicest guy and was so ready to
learn English. We had a good class with him and we were able to learn a lot from him. After the class, it was the cutest thing, he pulled out a dollar bill that was folded up into an elephant. It was the sweetest and kindest thing ever. Just a good guy.
Wednesday, that morning we had a zoom meeting with our zone and talked about things that we need to do. It is always good to talk about things with people who are in the same area that you are. And throw ideas back and forth. Then we went to Tiffany's lesson, it was just us but we talked about the conference talk by Bradly Wilcox, we talked about it and applied it into our lives. I love her so much, she is making so much progress and learning so much!!!
That night we had a lesson with Tehani and Vincent and it was really good. We talked about his baptism and things that he liked and how he felt. But then we talked about the next steps for him and what he needs to do, so it was really good. We talked about the Priesthood and helping him understand more about it before his interview. And then we talked about the temple, and that this is something that we want to do with them. They have made a lot of progress and we are so happy for them.
Then we went to Matilde’s, with some of the bishopric. She has been going through a lot and needs some help and so that was good. But when we left she did the cutest thing and gave me and Hna Padilla gifts, little boxes to put nice things in. It was the kindest thing ever.
We then ran to the christensen’s and had a fun lesson with them, they are so much fun and have been like family to me. So we always have a good time with them.
And then we went to the Lafuentes, we were able to have a visit with them but it was Hna Lafuentes birthday the next day. So they had cake and hot chocolate for us. It was so much fun to get to know them more. It was so kind at the end Hno Lafuente was telling me how good my Spanish is and how much it has improved. It was the kindest thing and made me feel so good.
Thursday was a good day, we had Zone conference, and let me tell you it was so much fun!! I was able to receive so much personal revelation and it was so much fun to be able to go and see other missionaries. I just love being able to have that time. It was so sad because it was my last one and so I gave my departing testimony. It went so good, I felt the spirit so strong and I was able to share my thoughts and things that I had learned from the last 18 months. We got a lot of pictures,
and then took a video with all of the sisters. We then went and did studies at the park and it got cold so we finished in the car. That night we had a good lesson at a part-member family. And the husband was there who isn't a member, so we got to get to know him and what he likes to do. And then we got to talk about the church with him. And what was really good because we got to talk to him and found out that he would be interested in learning more about the church and gospel. So it was really good. We set up a time to go back. Really big and exciting.
Friday we had District Council and we were able to give the training, being able to share our thoughts and feelings with all of the missionaries. We always have a good time,
a lot of laughs and good times with them elders. We then had to do our weekly planning because we didn't have time the day before, and then that night we were able to go and knock a lot of doors of people in our area.
Saturday morning we went and cleaned the church, it was so nice because this was the first Saturday that a lot of people showed up so it got done faster. We then came home and did things that we needed to do, and all of our studies. Well we decided to go to Sunset Park and go street contacting. It is a bigger park and is more well known. So we are pulling in and it was so weird there were a lot of people but they were all looking at their phones. I turned to my companion and said something must be up. This is not weird and not normal. So strange!
so we go park and are walking around and it is so quiet no one is talking and there were so many people, and that is not a park at all. We are trying to go and talk to people and no one would look away from their phones and talk to us. I felt like the world was ending a zombie apocalypse. It was the strangest thing! Well come to find out that there was a pokemon go event going on and it was happening all day. So apparently they were catching pokemon. Haha the funniest thing ever!! so we still tried to talk to people, and you could see the rare ones because they were actually playing games and throwing balls. Haha so we were able to talk to some people and It was really good for us. A good adventure for us. And then that night we were able to go and knock more doors it was good for us. We went and knocked a part member family and it was
really good we got to go in and get to know her more and what she likes to do. It was a lot of progress we have been trying to do that for a long time. And this next week we are going over for dinner.
Sunday was a big day, I was able to sing in our English ward and it went really well. The spirit was so strong and brought a lot of tears. I am so blessed I can use the talents that I have and be an instrument in the hands of the
lord. Even if it is not my favorite, I can do it. And then we went to the Spanish branch and I was able to speak in our sacrament meeting and I felt like it went good, and then we went and talked to the elders quorum about missionary work and things that they can be doing to help. We were able to go and have dinner at the Dominas and they are such a cute family, I am so blessed to know them. There is always something going on in their home!! But overall a really good week.
This week I read in 3 Nephi 13, and this is when Christ is coming down and visiting the Nephites in the America's. Let me say I am so jealous of them. They were able to spend time with him and they were able to learn from them. It is something that I have loved so much. This is the part that Jesus is teaching the people how to pray, that this is something that is personal and meaningful to them. That when we talk to our Savior we need to share with Him the things that we love and what we do, but the things that we need help with and the things that we are grateful for. I just love the way that He talks about it and shares that this is something that should be meaningful. And then it went on to talk about how He is the only God that we should love and worship, He is the light and the one that is here to protect us. That as we turn to Him, and
give our will and troubles to Him we shouldn’t worry about anything. The hard and bad times, but also the good things. Give Him our will, and then He goes and he related it to the lilies and he says.
"28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin;"
And I love this so much it is something that made me SO HAPPY to read this. First off this is where the song comes from and I didn't know that. And now the song means way more to me. It is about when Jesus Chirst comes to the world and he is teaching his people. When I read this the spirit was so strong and just testified of the song and that
this is true. That the lilies and the nature of the earth it grows towards the sun and the good things. Also the Son of God, our light Jesus Christ. As they grow and learn they become beautiful because they look up to the Savior. They don't toil and twist with things of the earth; they worry about what they are doing, not what others think or do.
I just thought there is so much meaning behind it and it must be so important that they made a song out of it. And how amazing that is. I have been listening to that song more and more and it just makes me so happy. Consider the lilies in the field how they grow, and think about how you can become like the lilies. And how you can come close to the Savior Jesus Christ. I love Him so much and am so grateful for him. I love you all so much and hope that you have a good week!!!
