Hello everyone I hope that you are all doing well. And loving the fall weather, it is starting to cool down here and it feels so good! I am starting to get cold, WHAT I am getting cold. Yes I am, I think that I have acclimated to the weather. I don't know how I am going to do Utah to say the least. A little breeze just gives me goosebumps. Oh I feel like a wimp, but that's what I get when I live in a place where it’s super hot. Other than that it has been an amazing week full of miracles you all know God blesses us but I was just blown away. Let me just say we started the week with only one person on date. She is so amazing and is getting baptized this Saturday. And your homie gets to perform a musical number. I am so scared but I am doing it because she asked and I love her so much!
Last Tuesday we went and helped our elders with a service. Oh my goodness this lady was crazy she wasn't telling her landlord that she was leaving, so we had to hurry and help her. And it was all so bad and gross, all smelled like smoke. But the best part was she said that she didn't smoke. And then about 10 minutes later she asked if we wanted to go outside with her so she could take a smoke break. WHAT! I thought you didn't smoke, well what do you do? We got everything out, good thing the elders were there or it wouldn't have been fun. We love them! We had to hurry and come home and shower we felt so disgusting.
Then we had a pass-off lesson with some of the sisters in our mission. They were giving us a person on BAPTISM DATE! Oh my goodness, his date is in November but we are so excited for her and being able to help him come closer to God. That was a huge miracle, our Spanish branch has not had a baptism in so long. All of our work is paying off.We had English class and this was one of our biggest classes. So the elders came and helped us. Like usual we had an amazing time and after the guy who came into the mission office stayed and we talked to him more about the gospel, what a miracle, he is just so amazing and wanting to learn more.
Wednesday we went and helped the crazy lady unpack all of her things. It is not Iike missionaries have done this for a while so we have a petting good idea of how to place things in a storage unit. Well she
wanted to do it all her way and so we let it be. It was insane. I am glad she is a child of God and glad we are done with moving.
We went home and ate because we had an amazing lesson with this mom and her cute daughter. She is a younger mom and just needed someone to talk to and that is what we are here for. So cute and the spirit was so strong. I love being able to help people in that way!
All of the sudden we got a call from the zone leaders and they said that they had some exciting news for us. And told us to look at our phones so after we did that we looked and all of the sudden we had another person on date. WHAT! Yes we did, they have been teaching someone and found out that he is in our area. And he is so ready all he wants to do is share the gospel with everyone. Oh my we are so excited to be able to work with him and help him on his way to our elder Brother and Savior, Jesus Christ. So now we have 3 people on date for baptism!!!
And then we went over to a little Latino family's house. They were all so cute we talked to the grandma, and she kept calling me build and strong. I'll take it!! The mission hasn't changed me at all, haha that's a joke! So sweet, but my Spanish was not there. I couldn't speak or understand to say the least, it was a mess. But members are so nice to help us out!
Thursday we had a lesson with Tiffany. She is so amazing and will one day be baptized. We were able to show her the 12 Step Program and how it will be able to help her. We are going to try to do it with her. She will get back to us and see what she thinks and if she wants us to do it with her. But I am so excited we think this will do a lot for her!
We went and got our Flu shots this week. It was so much fun we got to see all of our missionary friends and catch up on what is going on. I got to see Herman Peterson. It just made my week! I love her so much and it was good to see her. We had our day split up between weekly planning and lessons. It was a mess but by 10:15 that night we got most of it done haha.
We did get to talk with this one member and she told us all of her stories about growing up and marriage. I could not stop laughing. Some people are just good story tellers!!!
And then the Zone Leaders found out by a little bird that I was singing and they asked if I would sing for a mission meeting, what I was trying to keep it on the down low and Sister Rodarte told them hehe. And I have done so good for a year not to tell but I guess it did at some point have to. So look at me go! Haha
On Friday we had district council, a lot of fun, and we got to know a lot of cute families that night.
This week we got a media referral and he is just looking for some peace. We set up a time to meet and thought he
is so cool but nothing much about him. Well on Sunday he came to church and we got to know him at church and at our lesson after church. He is going through a hard time and was talking to a good friend. Come to find out I was in the ward that his friend was in, I got to know her pretty well. But what a small world that she was helping him find the church and I am the missionary at that ward. We had an amazing lesson with him. He is just so ready and has that desire and wants to read the whole Book of Mormon. We were able to talk a little bit about the Plan of Salvation, he has a lot of questions but he is so ready for everything. He is an amazing miracle. So we have a few more lessons this next week with him and we will see how they go! But we are so excited!
Saturday we helped our Branch President help move his mom and so everyone came to help. We went to Chick Fil’A after and this basher came up and wanted to test our knowledge. We held our own but it
got to a point where we just ended the conversation because he was never going to see our side and there was no point. But he was nice and just didn't know what is up. We went to the church and had a lesson with Paul, someone we are teaching. We were going to leave the church but we decided to stay. All of the sudden we got a knock on the church doors and there was a lady who wanted to pray. We talked to her and invited her to church and she just needed someone to talk to. So we just loved her and talked to her. It was so good, she has been through a lot lately. What was so amazing is she came to church and all of the members were so nice to her. Loved her and showed her that she mattered.
We had 6 people at church and they all loved it. They were so kind and they all felt so loved it was amazing.
And then for dinner with a member family and they were so cute it reminded me of home so much! They were making jokes the whole time and it was a blast! Overall it was an amazing week and we had a lot of miracles and I loved it so much!
This week I want to share with you is D&C 21:4-6:
4 Wherefore, meaning the church, thou shalt give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me;
5 For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith.
6 For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name’s glory.
We need to walk in holiness in the Lord. Doing all that we can to continue to become like Him and do what we can to strive to do better! Walking in holiness is not something that is difficult. But we have to continue to strive to do better and better every day, we to listen to his Word and the things He has to say, the scriptures. When we have faith and patience we are able to come closer to the Lord. We become humble and let him make us better and shape us to be the best person we can become. When we do that the devil is not going to make it into our lives as easily and we are going to be able to withstand him. And then we will be with Heavenly Father forever!
I love you all and hope you have a good week!
