This week was a good and crazy week! Now we technically have 3 areas and so it is going to keep us busy. But I am so excited for that.
Monday we went with the Sisters to say goodbye to everyone, but for us it was a get to know you with everyone in the English ward.
Tuesday morning we dropped the sisters off, it was so sad to say goodbye but I know that they are going to do good things in their new areas. We were able to see a lot of missionaries so it was fun to say hi and see where they are going and we got everything situated for our new area. That night we were able to go out with one of the less actives in the ward and get to know her. She is so cute, it is so sad to think that people just forget the spirit that they felt when they were in the church. And it is something that can leave so fast. But she is so cute and loves to talk about her mission, it is fun to be able to talk to her and relate to her on some levels.
We then had English class, and I love that! We only had one student today but it was nice to be able to focus on her. We were able to talk more about the church and what we believe so it was a good step forward in all directions!
Wednesday we got out of the apartment and bombed for cucarachas again. So hopefully this will be the last time. We had a mission meeting so we had to go to the church for that. It was an amazing meeting. I love how all of the meetings we have are so inspiring and just help us want to be better and do more to help others. During the meeting we got a call from the mission office saying that there is someone who wants to learn more about our English classes. So to say the least we were there in less than a minute. They were very impressed,
haha but we were already there for a meeting. We helped the guy get the information and then he also talked about wanting to come to church. So we gave him all of the information that he needed and he is going to watch Conference this weekend. It is so amazing when you have people coming to you to ask for the things you want to share most with everyone. We are so excited to be able to work with him and help him on his path to Christ! I count myself blessed for this experience showing when we are willing to work hard things are not going to come in the time that we want them but they are going to come. We just need to be patient. I am still working on that, but it is cool to see. After our meeting we went and helped a lady move a box into her house, she was a cute and interesting member. It was good for us to be able to go and help her. After talking to her she said that she would love to come to church. So hopefully we can get her coming too!
We went to our new bishop's house, what a cute family. We were able to go over and get to know them but also learn how we can best help the ward. I am excited to be able to work with this new ward and get to know all of them. It seems like an amazing ward and a lot of good people!
Thursday morning we went to Patricia's house for English class, she is such a cute thing. We were able to talk about families today and how we have been able to see them bless our lives. I love the church's English program because you can turn any lesson back to the gospel so fast!
We then went to another Patricia's house. She is someone who is in our English ward Serene, and she is
on date for baptism this October!!! She is so ready! We are so happy for her, we got to get to know her another time but this lesson was us getting to know her better and her conversion. She has been working with the missionaries for over 10 years and at first wanted nothing to do with us. But now over time she has changed and this is something that she wants more than anything. This is a testament to me that no matter what, we can help others come unto Christ. It may take time but when we share what we love with those around us they are going to want to have the same joy that you have and put their life in God's hands and that is what she is doing. Her daughter has helped her every step of the way and now it is going to be a blessed day for the whole family! I love her and can't wait to work with her more.
We had surprise interviews with the President, to say the least it was amazing and I always love meeting with him!
We had to plan for all of our people on Thursday and how we can best help them come to find our Savior Jesus Christ for themselves. Well, with all of our areas we had to plan for 47 people, WHAT! We didn't quite finish but we are getting there. It is a lot.
We went to this cute member's home and when we walked in it was such a nice clean house and they were baking bread. Oh if that is not a cozy feeling I don't know what is. Her and her husband served a mission so we were able to hear all about that and I found out that she also loves lifting so that was a fun subject to talk about. I love being able to connect with people and just get to know them!
On Friday we had our first district council with all of our new district, and that was fun. I am excited to be able to work with all of them! I got to say goodbye to one of my mission friends, it was so sad to say goodbye but I know that she is going to be amazing at home and this next chapter in her life. While we were at the church we got some information about our branch that is going to help us so we are excited about that!
We were running around Friday night picking up and dropping off a lot of things, but one of our members made us Argentinian pizza. It was really good. I am blessed with a lot of good members and they just want to take care of us!
We called this member and she is the cutest thing ever, we were able to hear her conversion story and how God was able to help and bless her! She knows Donney and Maria Osmond and they were part of her story so that was fun to hear about!
Saturday and Sunday…
CONFERENCE WEEKEND!
Oh how much I love conference weekend. The revelation that we are able to receive for ourselves and for others. I loved this conference so much being able to hear from the Prophet, his Apostles and the leaders of the church. They were all so inspiring and all came back and talked about Jesus Christ and his Atonement! I love that so much. I just can't get over how good it was.
We were able to go to members' homes and watch it. This weekend was different then the rest we have had. In between sessions we went and visited people and then we would go and watch conference and do it all over again. I also loved that the Tabernacle choir on Temple Square was back, that made me so happy!
What a blessing it is to be able to have this time twice a year to be able to hear his words. And no matter what, they are so personal to us. It feels like they are talking to us individually. If you haven't heard conference yet, I strongly encourage you to go and watch it, listen to it! You won't regret it!
This week I want to share with you all 2 Nephi 4:32-35
32 May the gates of hell be shut continually before me, because that my heart is broken and my spirit is contrite! O Lord, wilt thou not shut the gates of thy righteousness before me, that I may walk in the path of the low valley, that I may be strict in the plain road!
33 O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around in the robe of thy righteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make a way for mine escape before mine enemies! Wilt thou make my path straight before me! Wilt thou not place a stumbling block in my way—but that thou wouldst clear my way before me, and hedge not up my way, but the ways of mine enemy.
34 O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.
35 Yea, I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my righteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen.
I would love you all to think about how these scriptures relate to you!
When I read this and studied it this week, what I got from it is to give yourself to the Lord, give him all that you are. When we do that Satan and his followers are not going to be able to get to us we are going to be protected by the robe of righteousness! When we have that we are able to be an example and not let others get to us. We are going to have stumbling blocks and trials are going to come our way. But as we trust God all is going to be alright, he is going to give us the peace and the guidance that we need. I love how it says to put your trust in God and not in the arm of flesh. God will give us liberty and be our rock of righteousness. He will be the shoulder we can cry on and give us the strength we need and because of Him we have eternal life. What a blessing that is!
I love these scriptures so much, and hope that you find what you need in them!
I love you all and hope you all have a good week.
